šŸ“Š Poll

Last issue, I asked: What did you think about Apple’s announcements - Satisfied or disappointed? Why?

Here are some of my favorite replies:

Satisfied - ā€œTo be honest it is enough. People is still not getting that we have gotten to a point that there's so much you can do for "innovation". I do not need a super flexible iPhone nor something else that is basically a gimmick, one of the reasons I like Apple is that they ship the most polished products and makes a big difference from the other brands. The only thing that I wasn't completely satisfied was the USB-C upgrade to the AirPods Max, that was lame.ā€

Disappointed - ā€œI really wished that Apple would introduce 120 Hz screens on their base iPhone models because that’s the only reason I’m still using my iPhone 14 Pro and I’m not considering buying another Pro iPhone. The base modelsā€˜ colors are much more appealing to me.ā€

🫣 iOS 18 is a Disaster

Apple released iOS 18 and all of their other major updates a few weeks back. Since then, there have been three instances of Apple revoking a release due to bugs.

  • First, iPadOS 18 bricked some M4 iPad Pro’s and was never re-released.

  • Then, HomePod version 18.1 Beta 5 was pulled after bricking HomePods.

  • The very next week, watchOS 11.1 Beta 3 was pulled after causing some Apple Watches to freeze until rebooting.

  • This is highly unusual for Apple to release such flawed software consecutively, Beta or not.

iOS 18.0.1 to the Rescue

  • Despite bricking devices, iOS 18 also had some major bugs related to touch responsiveness, battery drain, Messages crashing, and more.

  • Thankfully, late Thursday afternoon, Apple released iOS 18.0.1, watchOS 11.0.1, and all of the other updates to fix all of the widespread issues.

  • This update is crucial for all devices but especially for the iPhone 16, as it patches bugs related to the Camera app, touch responsiveness, and more.

  • watchOS 11.0.1 also fixes battery drain, touch issues, and more.

  • Here’s my video detailing all of the fixes & changes.

My take: This is unprecedented for Apple and I hope this isn’t a sign of what’s to come. The iOS 18.0.1 update was much needed, but I wouldn’t blame you for holding off on updating your devices right away for the foreseeable future.

iOS 18.1, which is expected later this month, will likely be a great rebound for Apple since it’ll give all iPhone 15 Pro & 16 users Apple Intelligence and I expect the initial bugs to be ironed out for the most part.

šŸŽ iPhone SE 4 Could Be Huge

MacRumors

The iPhone SE 4 is set to come out in early 2025 and the rumors are picking up. Here’s the latest.

  • The SE is expected to get the first-ever Apple-designed 5G modem that will incorporate Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.

  • It’s also set to get the same A18 chip as the current iPhone 16 models, meaning it’ll have Apple Intelligence support.

  • It’ll allegedly have a 6.1ā€ OLED display with Face ID, a notch, Action Button, USB-C, and a single-lens 48mp rear camera.

  • Gurman just re-confirmed that the new SE is coming early next year.

My take: This iPhone SE has the potential to be a massive seller for Apple if the price is right. If Apple can sell this for $499, I believe it’ll be the best value on the market. Hopefully we see this in Q1!
