š Poll
Last week, I asked: Based on the rumors, are you planning to upgrade to the iPhone 16? Why or why not?
Here are some of my favorite replies:
Yes - āIāve been holding on to my iPhone 13 Pro because it is such a solid phone. However, my battery health has degraded, and Iāve been missing out on new features like Dynamic Island and an always on display on the pro, so I think itās time. Additionally, I want to be able to use Apple Intelligence and the (hopefully) better Siri we will receive at some point. Very excited for the iPhone 16 line, especially the pro models.ā
No - āNo. I own a 15 Pro Max bought in May this year while switching from android. I wanted the 120 Hz and the larger screen size, not necessarily the pro camera features. A lot of iPhone 16 Pro Max improvements are for cameras, and I am interested in Apple Intelligence features more, but I will also get on 15 Pro Max, so keeping it is the right decision for me.ā

š Appleās Big Announcements
Apple announced the iPhone 16 this week and the pre-orders just went live. Hereās the recap:
iPhone 16 and 16 Pro have relatively minor changes externally, but significant changes internally.
Externally: New colors, Camera Control Button for all models, Action Button for the non-Pros, 48mp Ultrawide camera for the Pros, and slimmer bezels for the Pros.
Internally: All iPhone 16ās get bigger batteries, 8GB of RAM, A18 chip, Wi-Fi 7 support, and Apple Intelligence.
All 16ās also get an improved thermal design for better heat dissipation, while the Pro models get an additional graphite-clad aluminum substructure.
iPhone 16 Pro models also get up to 26% faster 5G speeds and can even charge at 45W now.
If you want more specifics, I made a video outlining the nitty gritty details of the iPhone 16 & 16 Pro.
Apple Watch
Apple also announced a new Apple Watch Series 10. This wasnāt quite the redesign we hoped for, but it looks to be a solid upgrade for many.
It comes in 42mm & 46mm, is 10% thinner than the Series 9, has a 40% brighter display (thanks to the wide angle OLED display), and it charges faster than the S9.
It also has Sleep Apnea detection, a new depth gauge (up to 20 feet), and the ability to play music through the speaker.
The new standout colors are Jet Black and Rose Gold for the Aluminum model. The more expensive model is now Titanium, which replaces Stainless Steel.
It starts at $399 and there are several new bands to choose from this year.
Apple also launched a new color for the Apple Watch Ultra 2: satin black.
AirPods
Two new models of AirPods 4 were announced. Active Noise Cancellation & Transparency Mode are the only key differences between the two.
The cheaper model is $129 and the ANC version is $179.
There was also a minor update to AirPods Max, adding just USB-C and new colors. No changes to the chipset inside, despite being 4 years old.
In related news, Apple just received FDA approval for its Hearing Aid feature coming to AirPods Pro 2. This is the FDA's first authorization of over-the-counter hearing aid software!
My take: I was surprised to see Wi-Fi 7 support come to all iPhone 16 models and I was also surprised to see how big the 46mm Apple Watch Series 10 looks!
As usual, I will be purchasing everything announced and you will find coverage on my YouTube channel!
š² iOS 18 & Software Updates
Next week will be a major one for software updates, as Apple will be rolling out its annual āmajor updateā across all platforms. Hereās what to expect.
For the first time ever, macOS Sequoia is going to be released alongside iOS 18.
Typically, Apple has a gap in the release date between the two, but not this time. Itās likely due to iPhone Mirroring being such an important feature.
Alongside iOS 18/iPadOS 18 and macOS Sequoia, weāre expecting watchOS 11, tvOS 18, visionOS 2, and HomePod version 18 on Monday, September 16th.
My take: There will be several software videos on the channel next week, stay tuned!
