🗞️ The Latest

🧐 iPhone 16 Uncertainty

We are just hours away from the iPhone 16 reveal at Apple’s forthcoming event, It’s Glowtime, and we have some final details to discuss.

• The new Gold color for the iPhone 16 Pro is said to be a “standout” color that “looks impressive and not terrible like the early renders.”

• Apple’s iPhone 16 silicone cases allegedly have no cutout for the new Capture Button, suggesting the gesture-based features could be limited to the Pro models.

• Mark Gurman also recently mentioned that the Capture Button is not certain for the non-Pro models.

• The Pro models are expected to finally get a 2TB storage option.

• Bluetooth 6.0 was just announced this week but don’t expect the 2024 iPhones to support it.

• The event takes place on Monday, September 9 at 1pm EST. I will be live streaming during the event.

• As for the launch date, it’s expected to be on Friday, September 20th. That happens to be the same day the Apple Mall of Scandinavia opens! Coincidence?

My take: By now, we typically know everything to expect at the event in terms of hardware. It’s strange that we still aren’t confident in the regular 16 models getting the same Capture Button capabilities as the Pro.

Regardless, I’m excited for the event on Monday and I’m hoping the new Gold color looks as good as Gurman thinks it does!

💻 M4 Macs are Near

A new round of Macs are coming within the next couple of months and some exciting changes are coming! Here’s what to know.

• Apple is set to launch new M4 Mac models in November, following a potential event in October.

• The plan is to launch four new Mac models with M4-series chips:

  • 14” & 16” MacBook Pro with M4

  • 14” & 16” MacBook Pro with M4 Pro & M4 Max

  • ‌iMac‌ with M4

  • Mac mini with M4 & M4 Pro

• All of these Macs could come with 16GB of RAM as standard, which would be a first for Apple.

• The Mac mini is expected to receive a redesign and ditch all of the USB-A ports for USB-C.

• It will also have an internal power supply for the first time. So now you won’t have to carry around a separate brick!

My take: The redesigned M4 Mac mini sounds the most enticing here! If you’re in the market for a new desktop Mac, I predict the M4 Pro model will be the one to get.

The other Macs are expected to get the usual spec bump, but 16GB of RAM as the new standard will be a welcome change. I can already see it trending all over social media.

🎶 Apple Music’s Subtle Upgrade

This week, Apple Music launched new personalized stations! Here are the details.

• Apple Music added five new Find Your Mood stations, which you can find in the Music app under Home > Find Your Mood.

• The stations are: Relax, Feel Good, Focus, Feeling Blue, and Energy.

• These stations are personalized based on your listening history and are updated frequently with new music to match your mood.

• These stations join the existing Love and Heartbreak stations, which were previously found under the Stations For You section.

My take: I’ve been jamming out to all these stations this week (based on my current mood) and I have to say, they are much better than expected.

As I wrote on X, the songs aren’t generic and I’ve already discovered dozens of new songs. Love it!
